Enugu State Government of Nigeria partners with Zinox to provide free superWifi for Enugu

Residents of Enugu State can now enjoy free wireless internet services around the state metropolis, many thanks to the partnership between the State Governmnet and Zinox technologies, an indigenous computer firm in the country. Followiing a meeting with the NCC( Nigeria Communications Commision) Chairman, Ernest Ndukwe, the Eastern Governors were charged with doing precious little to boost ICT in the good, old East, whereupon the Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime put heads together with the Zinox team to see what could be done regarding the grey status of ICT in the East. Before long, they came up with a brilliant idea: to wire Enugu State into the internet by providing free wireless LAN services throughout the state metropolis. Their brainchild was originally called, "ENSG_ZINOX" and later renamed "CoalCity WiFi" with servers all over the place from New Haven to New Layout and from Independence Layout through Trans Ekulu and Abakpa to GRA. Achara Layout,Obiagu and parts of GRA are still to be covered.

The ENSG has good intentions to be sure, that of making governance, learning, and professional research easier and cheapeer for the masses, but the very possible possibility that mail scamming and other cyber crimes may jet up like a curse and strike an all-time high remains still to be adressed, what with every cyber cafe in the State filled thick with mail scammers hoodwinking unfortunate 'mugus'. It is likely that the Partnership would devise stringent measures to address this issue in the nearest future.
Secondly, the CoalCity Wifi may just be making valedictory speeches to numerous cyber cafes in the state. This is important especially considering that these cafes are small-scale businesses owned by persons who are not at all well-off. As an instance, let's consider a typical cyber cafe in the state and what they expect to become in these days of free internet services. A typical cafe employs 3 computer technicians (each paid say N10,000 per month), 4 Receptionists cum cafe attendants(each paid N5,000 per month), and ,of course, the cafe has rent bills, power bills, water bills, maintenance costs to pay(all of which may swell to N30,000 per month). Exempting miscellaneous expenditures, the cafe is faced with being able to pay out at least N70,000 per month, and now with the state providing free internet services, they must needs countenance anything from laying off workers to running out of business. Many sympathies, of course, but this apperas to be a necessary step; information transfer was never easier anywhere. You are only a few digits from getting a free voucher to assesss the internent via the CoalCity superWiFi. Thumbs up for Enugu State Government and Zinox Technologies, a partnership that works!
